Osteopathy and Babies

Trauma of the birthing process
The birthing process is often an extremely uncomfortable process for the baby as the pressure of the contraction and the tight squeeze through the birth canal often results in asymmetrical head shapes and bruising. Such injuries can often contribute to colic and reflux symptoms. The neck is often stretched during birthing process and can be comparable to adult whiplash injuries. Though caesarian births may seem like a less traumatic option for the baby but caesarian births misses out on the moulding of the cranium and the waking of the central nervous system.

How does osteopaths treat babies?

If treatment is required it is a gentle process of? placing our hands on the baby to relieve the pressure in the bones and muscles. Most babies finds this an extremely relaxing process.
